God Wants to Establish in the World Devotion to the Immaculate Heart
of Mary
By Father Nicholas Gruner, S.T.L., S.T.D. (Cand.)
In a talk given before the bishops, priests and laypeople assembled
at the Last Chance for World Peace conference in Tuy, Spain,
on October 6, 2006, noted Fatima expert Father Nicholas
Gruner gives an overview of the Message of Fatima, and
shows how the key to the Message is devotion to the Immaculate
Heart of Mary. If we persist in this devotion, Russia will
be consecrated to Her Immaculate Heart and converted to
the Catholic Faith and its fervent practice, and we will
have a period of peace unknown at any time since the birth
of Christ.
This is an edited transcript of Father Gruner’s talk.
The Blessed Virgin Mary was sent by God for our century, to aid the
people of the present time. And She was sent in a most historic
situation. In this talk, I would like to give you some context.
I cannot really do justice to it, since all of us are too close
to the situation, but I will try because we all need Her help to
hear and understand and implement Her Fatima Message.
The key to the whole Message of Fatima is devotion to the Immaculate
Heart of Mary. It is simple, but in spite of its simplicity, we
can miss it. Our Lord’s words come to mind, “Unless
you become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom
of Heaven.” (Matt. 18:3)
Our Lady’s Message is simplicity itself.
Think about the vision of hell on July 13, 1917. That is the first part
of the Secret. The Blessed Virgin opened Her hands. From Her hands
came light and this light fell on the ground in front of Her, between
Her and the three children.
Sister Lucy describes this vision as follows: “We saw as if it
were a vast sea of fire in which were plunged, all blackened and
burnt, devils and souls of the damned which could be distinguished
from the devils by the weird and unknown animals in which the devils
were cast. The souls were cast about in the flames without weight
or poise amid loud cries of pain and despair which horrified us
so that we trembled with fear.”
Lucy says that they looked up to the Blessed Virgin pleadingly, because
they would have died of fright had not Our Lady promised to take
them to Heaven, and had not the vision been but very brief.
The Blessed Virgin’s first words after showing this vision to
the children were, “You have seen hell, where the souls of
poor sinners go. It is in order to save sinners that God wills
to establish in the world devotion to My Immaculate Heart.”
Therefore, in order to save sinners, God wills to establish in the world
devotion to Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart.
I think that, even though in times past devotion to the Blessed Virgin
had been practiced better and more widely than it is today, this
devotion had not been sufficiently established, in God’s
mind. I think that in God’s plan it still has not been established
in the world yet, or at any time throughout the history of the
Church. So God wills that devotion to the Immaculate Heart must
be established in the whole world.
The Salvation of Our Souls
God has several reasons for this. One that is explained to us is the
salvation of souls. Many souls will be saved when this devotion
is established. That implies that as long as it is not established,
these souls will not be saved. So God’s salvific
purpose is mentioned here.
Of course, there are other reasons besides. One is certainly that Jesus
wants to honor His Mother. St. Alphonsus points out to us that
devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary is necessary for salvation.
Nowadays, to even say that to a group of Roman Catholics is not always
accepted. I would like to put this statement in perspective.
First of all, the salvation of souls is the supreme law of the Church.
We know that as an axiom of law. We also know that it is an axiom
of pastoral theology. It is actually enshrined in the new Code
as well, in the last Canon, that the supreme law of the Church
is the salvation of souls.
Our Lord Himself said, “For what doth it profit a man, if he gain
the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul?” (Matt.
16:26) So over the course of an individual’s life, the most
important thing is, to save his own soul.
St. Paul tells us that if salvation comes from the law — practicing
the ceremonial practices — or if salvation comes from any
other source, then Christ died in vain. Christ died for our salvation.
Our Lord told us “Greater love than this no man hath, that a man
lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13) Our Lord
gave His life for us and for the salvation of all people. He wouldn’t
have given His life if there was any other way to do it.
Furthermore, if there was something more important than the salvation
of souls, then He would have given His life for that reason instead.
Hence, our salvation is most important. And so we must keep in mind
that this is the first purpose of the Message of Fatima.
Why, then, devotion to the Blessed Virgin? Are there not other important
things that we need for salvation besides devotion to the Immaculate
Heart?
First of all, we know that there is no salvation outside the belief
in God. As St. Paul says to the Hebrews, “For he who comes
to God must believe that God exists and is a rewarder to those
who seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
There is also no salvation outside the name of Jesus. There is no other
name under Heaven to which salvation is given, we are told thus
in the Acts of the Apostles.
The Church has declared and defined this on three different occasions:
in the Fourth Lateran Council of 1215; in the Bull Unum Sanctum,
1302; and in the Bull Cantante Domino from the Council
of Florence in 1441. The last declaration is the one in which Pope
Eugene IV said, “There is no salvation outside the Catholic
Church.” It is not something that is often said these days,
but the fact is, it is an infallible dogma of the Faith that cannot
be changed.
It is important, then, to look at the progression, the same progression
that Pope Leo XIII gives us. All grace comes to us from God through
the sacred humanity of Jesus Christ, through the Church. But there
is one piece missing, and that is what is not emphasized.
The progression is God, Jesus, then the Blessed Virgin, and then the
Church, and in that order of importance. The Blessed Virgin is
the Queen of the Church. She is the Mother of the Church.
St. Alphonsus proves that outside devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary
there also is no salvation. So it is important for us to realize
these other truths: the existence of God and that God rewards those
who seek Him; that Jesus is our Savior; and that we are not saved
except through His blood, through His offering for us and invoking
His name.
But what has not been understood and not been emphasized sufficiently — and
this is not just my opinion but God’s teaching — is
that God wills to establish in the world devotion to the Immaculate
Heart so that souls will be saved.
St. Thomas tells us that God sends prophets to every generation, not
to give a new doctrine but to remind the faithful what they must
do in order to save their souls. So to save souls today, God sent
His Mother to Fatima to emphasize a doctrine which is not sufficiently
understood. And that is why Our Lady Herself says, “God
wills”.
Some translations say that God “wishes” but, as St. Francis
de Sales points out, there is a big difference between a wish and
to will something. He spends quite a bit of time on that in his
book, The Introduction to the Devout Life.
It is not that God just “wishes”. God intends.
God will fulfill His will. God will establish in the world the
devotion to the Immaculate Heart. The only question before us is
whether or not we will heed the lesson in time to save our generation.
We are told that in the end Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart will triumph.
So some people ask me, “Well why bother promoting the Message
of Fatima, since God is going to make it happen anyway?” The
reason is, each of us only lives in a certain time frame. Some
of us live twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty,
or ninety years, but at some point our life comes to an end.
The Importance of the Fatima Message
The Message of Fatima was given in 1917 — 89 years ago — Many
people have come and gone in that time frame, and at some point
all of us will be gone. The question before us is whether we will
do our part to establish this devotion to the Immaculate Heart
before it is too late for many of us and for the millions, if not
billions, of our contemporaries.
It is hard to exaggerate the importance of Fatima. It is equally hard
to exaggerate the significance of Fatima, not just for our time
but for the whole history of mankind, whether we look at history
from the temporal point of view or the spiritual.
I will try to give some context to this. I’m sure you have heard
of the Masons. One of their most infamous Grand Masters of the
19th Century was Albert Pike. Pike was a Confederate
general, who, in his day, was the most important Mason in America.
He personally rewrote the Scottish Rite Rituals, and in 1859 was
elected as the Sovereign Grand Commander of the Supreme Council
for Scottish Rite Freemasonry in the Southern Jurisdiction of the
United States. He was also one of the founders of the Ku Klux Klan.
In his writings, Pike called for three world wars. He did not live to
see them, but in fact Masonry has succeeded in fomenting two world
wars. World leaders are now talking about not if but when World
War III will begin. And World War III, by the way, is predicted
to take place between Christianity and Islam, which will result
in weakening both, and hence bring about the reign of the Antichrist.
World War I and World War II are history. Our Lady Herself spoke about
World War I. She said that “this war will soon end, but another,
worse than this will break out in the reign of Pius XI, if mankind
does not amend.”
She said in order to prevent the punishment of war, famine, persecution
of the Church and persecution of the Holy Father; She would come
to ask for two things: the Communion of Reparation on the First
Saturdays, and the Consecration of Russia to Her Immaculate Heart.
A Most Important Request
Most people in this city of Tuy do not know to this day that the most
important request of Fatima was given in this city. It is a very
historic city, dating back to before the time of Christ. It was
from this city that the King of Spain, Ferdinand III, recovered
one third of Spain from the Moors in his long reign of forty‑five
years. It took a total of 770 years to complete the recovery of
all of Spain. And then there was the Catholic Queen, Isabella,
who launched the so‑called discovery of the new world, if
not from Tuy, then I think from this area.
This city is under a promise that was given to San Pedro Gonzalez Telmo
that although this city, like all cities, deserves chastisement,
it will receive special protection from God, not just for San Telmo’s
time, but for centuries to come.
It is this city that was chosen for the most important request of all
of Fatima, because this request is the apex. It cannot take place
without the other requests being fulfilled. But all of the other
requests will not be realized, nor will the devotion to the Immaculate
Heart be fulfilled, without the Consecration of Russia taking place.
I am sure all of us are aware, no matter what part of the world that
we come from, that there were two airplanes that crashed into the
World Trade Center in New York City. Whoever is responsible for
that — and there is certainly in North America a controversy
as to who really did it — made a profound, public statement
by their actions.
If man knows how to establish or make a point in a very public way,
God knows so much better. God intends to establish in the world
devotion to the Immaculate Heart. And it will come about by God
making a statement, not so much by His words, as by His actions,
that — the whole world will see — will be far more
dramatic than anything man can do.
There are some parallels in history. In the Old Testament, we have the
account of Moses leading the then people of God away from Egypt
and back to the Promised Land. The Egyptians then changed their
mind and decided to slaughter the Israelites as they fled from
Egypt. The Egyptian armies were in hot pursuit. Moses and his people
had no protection and they were surrounded. They were on the banks
of the Red Sea and they had nowhere to go.
If you recall, God gave the command to Moses — to one man — to
extend his rod over the Red Sea. When that happened, the sea opened
and they walked through, led by none other than Mary (Miriam),
the virgin sister of Moses. And when they got to the other side,
Moses put his rod down and the water crushed the enemies coming
after them through the Red Sea.
The Dangers Threatening the Faith
That is an historic event, but is also a symbol of our situation today.
The Catholic faithful are surrounded. You can go to Cardinal Ratzinger — now
Pope Benedict XVI — for an understanding of this when in
1984 he said the Third Secret concerns the “dangers threatening
the faith and the life of the Christian and therefore (the life)
of the world.” (See www.fatima.org/thirdsecret/ratzinger.asp)
In Italian, when a person speaks of “the Christian”, there
is only one Christian, and that is the Catholic, since Italy is
almost entirely Catholic, at least in name. Therefore, they don’t
refer, as we do in Protestant countries, to “Christians” as
meaning members of other religious denominations.
So I’ll just rephrase it. The Third Secret concerns the “dangers
threatening the faith and the life of the Catholic and therefore
(the life) of the world.”
Cardinal Ratzinger used the word dunque, which is quite a formal
way of saying “therefore”. Why did he say “therefore (the
life) of the world”? The answer can be found in the Sermon
on the Mount, where Our Lord says, “You are the salt of the
earth. But if the salt loses its savor, wherewith shall it be salted?
It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden
on by men.” (Matt. 5:13)
So Cardinal Ratzinger first talks about the dangers to the faith, to
the Catholic Faith. And subsequent to the dangers to the faith
is, then, the danger to the life of the Catholic, and subsequent
to that, is the danger to the life of the world.
When Our Lord says “You are the salt of the earth”, He is
referring to not only the Catholic clergy but to every baptized
Catholic as well. If Catholics lose their faith in Christ, if they
apostatize, then they are the “salt of the earth” that “loses
its savor” and they are then good for nothing but to be thrown
out and trampled underfoot.
And so when the Catholic falls, in a temptation against the Faith, and
thereby fails in the practice of his religion; in other words,
when he is overcome by the “dangers threatening the faith”,
then he’s good for nothing and therefore his life is in danger
of being trodden underfoot like Our Lord says of the salt that
loses its savor. The “therefore (the life) of the
world” refers to when most Catholics lose their savor, as
in the Great Apostasy predicted in Sacred Scripture (which apparently
we are in right now); then there’s no salt to make the world
palatable to God, and so there is then nothing left in the world
to avert God’s chastisement of sinful mankind, which as Pope
Pius XII says is worse now than before the Flood.
This ties in exactly with what Cardinal Ciappi said about the Third
Secret of Fatima, “In the Third Secret it is foretold, among
other things, that the great apostasy in the Church will begin
at the top.”
In Chapter 18 of Genesis we read how God said to Abraham that if He
could find fifty just men — or forty‑five, or forty,
or twenty‑five, or ten, or even five just men — in
Sodom, He would spare that city for their sake. But because he
could not find five just men, the city was punished by God Himself.
We also have the example of Moses: his example of obedience to the command
of God. That single act of obedience delivered the people.
That is why all of us are in the hands, in one way, of the Pope. Because
it is said, “The moment has come in which God asks the Holy
Father to make and to command all of the Catholic bishops
of the world to make the Consecration of Russia. God promises to
save Russia by this means.” In fact, He will save the
whole world by this means.
Why the Consecration of Russia?
People ask why the Consecration of Russia is necessary. In order to
understand this, let us examine the example of David. (1 Kings
17) David was eighteen years old, or thereabouts, and had seven
brothers. The prophet Samuel came and said to David’s father, “One
of your sons is to be anointed king.” And so Jesse, David’s
father, brought the seven older brothers to the prophet. He looked
at the first one and said, “no, not him.” Then the
second one, “no, not him.” The third one, not him either.
And so on with the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh sons. None
of them was worthy.
“Do you have any other sons?” the prophet asked. “Yes,” said
David’s father, “I have one more; he is at home taking
care of the sheep.” “Bring him here,” the prophet
said. And when the prophet saw David, he recognized him as the
one God had chosen.
So we are talking about a particular consecration. We use this
example of David because, if you remember the story of Goliath,
it was after David was consecrated that he was able to slay Goliath.
Goliath, according to Scripture, was a giant of a man whose armor‑bearer
was bigger than most people. This giant of a man stood for forty
days and forty nights denouncing the Israelites and saying, “Can
you find a man among you that will fight me, hand to hand?” For
forty days and forty nights there was not one man in Israel who
would take him on.
And Goliath blasphemed against God, saying something like “I thought
you said that you had God on your side. Well, where is He? You
won’t take me on?”
David took up Goliath’s challenge. And David was much smaller,
obviously; he was not even fully grown yet. Saul put his armor
on him and the armor was too heavy for David to carry. David was
quite slight compared to almost all of the soldiers of Israel.
Yet it was left to David to slay Goliath. But he could not have
done that without being consecrated first.
The Consecration of Russia is like an exorcism. It is like a rededication.
But it is more than that. It is going to be left to Russia, once
it has been consecrated, to slay the beast that is spoken of in
the Apocalypse.
If you study carefully what the Popes have said to us when they have
gone to Fatima, they have tried to tell us the Third Secret. But
the Secret is so powerful that most of us would be left reeling
the first time we hear it.
Father Malachi Martin said when the Third Secret is finally released,
the churches would be full, and that everyone would be on their
knees, beating their breasts, and going in long lines to confession.
He said this on a radio program broadcast to millions of people. (I
know millions hear that program because when I was on it we had
900,000 people coming to our web site in one day.) Father Martin
spoke on this program about a year before he died in 1999.
“The Secret is so powerful” he said, “that although
there are very important and powerful men, and very intelligent
and gifted men, in the Vatican, not one of them wants to touch
it with a barge pole. It is that powerful.”
Pope Pius XI said the errors of Russia — that is, Communism — did
not come from Russia. Communism was imported from outside. I expect
you know something of the history of the Russian revolution. The
money that paid for the Russian revolution, the revolt of the Russian
troops, came from the United States, from east side New York.
That money was actually captured and held for a time by the Canadian
navy. The Canadian navy was founded in 1917, and its only significant
act in World War I was to capture the ship that was carrying Leon
Trotsky with $25 million in gold. (Trotsky was accompanied, by
the way, by three hundred criminals, among them the President of
the Democratic Party of United States.)
That money came from international bankers, listed by Father Denis Fahey,
a very courageous Irish priest, in his book The Rulers of Russia. He
lists the individuals who were behind the Communist revolution
in Russia. He gives their names, their new names and what position
they held in Russia in 1938. These rulers of Russia got there because
the revolution was paid for with gold coming from New York City.
This requires some explanation. You would wonder why capitalists, wealthy
men, would want to pay for a revolution, pay for a system that
decries wealth and wants to take it all into the control of the
State. It seems like a contradiction, but it is not.
Before I studied for the priesthood, I studied economics for five years.
That part of my education helped prepare me to understand their
motive when I finally read it. Hilaire Belloc wrote a book called The
Servile State in which he explains that, as the diffusion
of property is further widespread, there is more real freedom.
But when private property is held by the few, then we become reduced
more and more to serfs, and finally to slaves.
It is a direct relationship. Political freedom cannot be exercised without
economic freedom. Why? It is simply because most men and women
are truly worried about where their next meal is coming from. So
if somebody says that they are going to cut off your food, then
most people will go along with whatever that somebody wants.
Belloc points out that the control of property and the control of economic
wealth is comprised of three elements: human labor, natural resources,
and machinery. But machinery cannot exist without there being savings.
So I call that “machinery savings”. If you control
the natural resources, and you control finance and inventions,
then you can control the rest of mankind.
So what difference does it make to Mr. Rockefeller if his right hand,
by control of the stock market, maneuvers to take over all sorts
of wealth that doesn’t belong to him, or if he uses the left
hand to pay for the revolution that takes the wealth in the name
of the people, only to give it back to the same masters?
Let me recommend Deirdre Manifold’s excellent book, Fatima
and the Great Conspiracy. In it, you will
see that connection.
You will also find a connection between Communism and Freemasonry. Although
most Masons do not realize this, Pope Leo XIII points out that,
at the top, Masonry and Communism have the same principles, the
same ideas.
Scripture tells us that iniquity has lied to itself. That is best characterized
in Masonry. The lower levels don’t know what the upper levels
are really all about. As Leo XIII points out, at the top level,
Masonry’s god is Lucifer, which is Satan.
Now, just as Goliath challenged the Israelites, the Church has been
given a challenge. We have a whole sweep of history coming to a
head in Fatima. And it will only be through the intercession of
the Immaculate Heart of Mary that the Church can win.
Pope Pius XII points out that, in 1517, Martin Luther said yes to God,
yes to Christ and no to the Church. In 1717, two hundred years
later, Masonry surfaced in London and said yes to God — they
didn’t mean it, but they said yes to God — no to Christ
and no to the Church. Another two hundred years later, in 1917,
Marx, through his disciple Lenin, said no to God. Each of those
no’s will be reversed through the Consecration of Russia.
As I said at the beginning, Our Lady’s Message is deceivingly
simple, so much so that you will miss the depth of it if you do
not think about it.
Allow me to go back one step further. In 1054, the Orthodox said yes
to God, yes to Christ, and yes to His Church, but no to the Pope.
They say Peter has primacy of honor but not primacy of jurisdiction.
Their false belief about the Pope’s primacy will be reversed
shortly after the Pope gives the order to the bishops to do the
Consecration of Russia and they obey.
The bishops will obey, and through the obedience of the bishops and
the Pope to Our Lady — Who is Queen of the Church and Who
can command the Pope and bishops because She is more important
than they are — Communism will be overturned, Masonry will
be defeated, and Protestantism will be destroyed as well.
Each of these groups has sworn, especially in more modern times, to
destroy the Church. Certainly Communism has said that it will kill
the Church. Freemasonry has said the same thing. And Protestantism,
at least in its early days, said the same thing. The Anglican persecution
of the Catholics in 16th‑17th Century England is a clear
example.
The Church is faced, strategically, with mortal enemies who have declared
themselves against the Church and pledged themselves to its demise,
its destruction. This war against the Church is happening before
our very eyes and we do not even recognize it.
Let us take two men: Mr. Hunter and Mr. Intended Victim. Mr. Hunter
is a strong man who has the will to kill, and who says to Mr. Intended
Victim, “I am going to kill you.” Mr. Intended Victim,
if he wants to live, has three choices. He can run, so Hunter doesn’t
catch him. He can fight, with the intention of winning and therefore
being able to live. Or he can negotiate, and try to persuade Mr.
Hunter not to kill him.
The Catholic Church is faced with those same three choices. It can run,
but where can it run to? Both the Church and its enemies are worldwide,
so that is really not a choice. Therefore, the Church is left to
either fight or negotiate. Our Lady came to Fatima and told us
we must not negotiate. We will not win the negotiation, so we must
fight. But we must fight with the weapon She gave us, which is
the Consecration of Russia.
Our Lady’s idea of retribution against Her enemies and ultimate
victory is really very gentle. His Excellency, Archbishop Hilarion
Capucci has kindly given us an icon from Russia, Our Lady of Tenderness,
sometimes known as The Lady Who Saves Russia. Our Lady of Tenderness
wants even Her enemies to approach Her Immaculate Heart and be
embraced by Her. She wants to convert them. So if you use the weapon
She gives, She will convert Her enemies. It is through conversion
that She triumphs. But we must give Her the victory; we cannot
claim it for ourselves.
The Grace of Our Lady
St. Augustine explains that God, in His great love for us, wants to
give us special graces, special favors. Because God is so good
and so loving, He wants to do this for us but He knows that we
don’t deserve them. So God has a dilemma. If He gives these
graces to mankind, we will become proud and work against our own
salvation. But God still wants to give these graces to us. How
does He do this? St. Augustine tells us that God has found a way.
It is through the intercession and merits of the saints.
St. Alphonsus Liguori tells us it is a great thing for a person to be
good enough, with the help of God’s grace, to merit his own
salvation. He says it’s even greater for a person to be good
enough to not only merit his own salvation, with God’s grace,
but to help and merit the salvation of others. That, St. Alphonsus
says, is what saints do. He says that it is the greatest thing
of all, for a human person to not only merit their own salvation,
and even the salvation of some others, but of all mankind. And
that grace has been achieved only by the Blessed Virgin Mary.
So God has reserved the grace of world peace, which mankind does not
deserve, to the Immaculate Heart. But He insists that She get the
credit for it, both for our own humility and in strict justice,
because it belongs to Her. That is why He will not bring about
world peace, nor will He will convert Russia, without that act
of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
There are some people who think that the Consecration of Russia is some
sort of act of magic, something unbelievable. But the fact is,
the Consecration will still be done, by the grace of God, and by
the Blessed Virgin’s merits, but there is work for all of
us to do. We have to do our part.
Sister Lucy tells us, “the Most Holy Virgin is very sad because
no one has paid any attention to Her Message, neither the good
nor the bad.” (See Father Fuentes’ 1957 interview with
Sister Lucy, at www.fatima.org/thirdsecret/frfuentes.asp).
The bad, she tells us, continue on their way without seeing the
chastisement of God actually falling upon them. The good, too,
have ignored Our Lady’s Message. That is why we have statues
and pictures of Our Lady crying tears of water and tears of blood.
Our Lady is sad because no one has paid attention to Her Message.
In 1951, the Italian Bishops’ Conference published a little booklet,
saying that Our Lady is still waiting for the Consecration of Russia
and that without this Consecration, Russia cannot convert.
The Fall of Communism: Fact or Fallacy?
I don’t know if any of you have been to Communist Russia. I remember
crossing the border from Austria into Hungary in 1971. And what
I am about to tell you is symbolic of a lot of other things.
When you reached the border, there was a barrier that came down behind
you so you couldn’t turn back if you wanted to change your
mind. And, of course, there was a barrier in front of you, not
to mention the barbed wire and guard towers. You could not drive
through either barrier. You were stuck there, in the middle. The
guard was changed with three men — not one, not two, but
three men.
That I think is symbolic of how the Communists have been able to ensconce
themselves so that no one can reverse the situation. Since there
are not one or two but three soldiers, each of them with an automatic
rifle, each of them could turn not only on anyone there but on
their fellow soldiers. It was very hard for people to break free.
You might say this is all academic, because, after all, Communism is
over, the Berlin wall has come down, and so forth. You can believe
that if you wish. It is a matter of opinion, not at all part of
the Fatima Message. But Our Lady spoke about the errors of Russia
being spread. Our Lady predicted that Russia would dominate, would
overcome the whole world, including the United States (see “Sister
Lucy’s Statement to Professor Walsh (July 15, 1946)”,
at www.fatima.org/consecrussia/srlucy1946.asp) — not
that the United States is more important than other countries,
but most people consider the United States to be the most powerful.
Sister Lucy tells us: “many times the Most Holy Virgin told my
cousins, Francisco and Jacinta, as well as myself, that many nations
will disappear from the face of the earth. She said that Russia
will be the instrument of chastisement chosen by Heaven to punish
the whole world if we do not beforehand obtain the conversion of
that poor nation.” (See www.fatima.org/thirdsecret/frfuentes.asp).
We cannot obtain the conversion except through the Consecration.
So unless Russia is consecrated in time, then the whole world will
be enslaved by Russia.
As I mentioned, the errors of Russia did not originate in Russia but
came from the outside. It is a known fact of the First World War
that the Germans brought Lenin in from Switzerland. That was part
of their war against Russia. And the financiers from America sent
in the gold to pay for the Russian revolution.
But once the error of Russia — that is, Communism — was
established, it could not be removed except by the Blessed Virgin,
through Russia being consecrated. So how do I explain the so‑called
changes in Russia?
Let me introduce to you a book by Anatoliy Golitsyn called New Lies
for Old. In this book, published in 1984, he made
148 predictions of what Russia would do. By 1993, 94% of
these predictions had come true.
Mr. Golitsyn is not a prophet. He doesn’t claim any religious
visions. But he was a major with the KGB, and as such was involved
in the Communists’ thirty‑year plan for world domination.
In the 1960s, he said that by 1988, they would pretend to
be weak. (He was off by a year.) Through this subterfuge, they
are following the teaching of Sun Tzu, the great Chinese genius
of warfare, who said that all warfare is based on deception.
The second principle of Sun Tzu is: when you are weak, pretend you are
strong; and when you are strong, pretend you are weak. But if you
are going to pretend you are weak, you have to be very strong.
The Russians planned to do that and in 1989 they started to play
out this charade before the world, pretending to be weak. But they
are very strong, many times more so than the United States. They
are just waiting for their optimal moment.
Our Lady tells us that the errors of Russia — Communism — will
be defeated only by the Consecration of Russia. So to paraphrase
what Our Lady says to the leaders of the Church, you are surrounded
by enemies who want to kill you, just like Moses, but you must
use My weapon, just like Moses. You must consecrate Russia and
Russia will convert. The Red Sea will open before you. And Russia
itself, when it is consecrated, will be on your side and, if necessary,
will kill your enemies if they do not convert but rather continue
to insist upon killing the Church.
You also have the prophecy of St. John Bosco. St. John had many prophetic
dreams, and one of them was a vision of Russia invading France.
As it did so, it carried a black flag. While it was in France,
the standard changed to white and Russia remained in Western Europe
to defend it. St. John Bosco said, “Salvation is from the
north, danger is from the south.”
What all the prophecies seem to be leading to is that if the Catholic
Church — the bishops, the priests, the faithful — will
not listen enough to Our Lady, we will see a rather bloody invasion
of Europe. It will be very short. But then, finally, the wisdom
of the saints — who for centuries have all been pointing
to our time, to this generation, to these very years — will
enable us to finally recognize that there is one solution, which
is to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart, which they will
do. Which in turn will then change the standard of Russia from
black to white. And Russia will stay to save Christendom, but only
though the merits of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Russia has been desecrated by the crime of men who hate God — Satanists — who
brought in Communism in order to defeat the Church, to defeat the
Faith, to lose souls. They lie that they are doing this for the
poor, when they are really doing it for the super‑wealthy.
Their crime is, first of all, not so much against man — although
it is certainly against man — but against God.
And what is a crime against God? If you take a family of, say, ten children
and one child decides to organize his brothers and sisters to fight
against his parents, he uses the material resources that the father
provides in his house, and recruits his brothers and sisters, or
some of them, to fight against his own parents. This is a great
act of impiety on the part of that rebellious son.
What happened in Russia is that the devil sent in his men to take over
the resources from the people of Russia to fight against God, to
export and spread their satanic doctrine of Communism. So the crime,
primarily, is against God.
We see that in the first vision and the third vision of the angel in
1916. The angel came to Lucy, Francisco and Jacinta before the
Blessed Virgin, and the first thing he did was to teach the three
children to pray: “My God I adore Thee, I believe in
Thee, I hope in Thee and I love Thee. I ask pardon for all those
who do not adore Thee, do not believe in Thee, do not hope in Thee
and do not love Thee.”
So the first crime of our century is primarily against God: lack of
faith, hope, and charity, and adoration. And we are to make acts
of faith, hope and charity and adoration in reparation for these
sins of mankind of our day.
We see that also in the third apparition of the angel. The angel brings
the children Holy Communion. Before giving them Communion, he leaves
the Host and chalice suspended in the air, and he prostrates himself
on the ground, before the Blessed Sacrament, and says, “O
Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore Thee profoundly,
and I offer up to Thee the most precious Body and Blood, Soul and
Divinity of the same Son, Jesus Christ, present in the tabernacles
of the world, in reparation for the blasphemies, the outrages and
the indifferences by which He is offended. And I draw upon the
infinite merits of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate
Heart of Mary that You might convert the poor sinners.”
These are the building blocks, you might say, of the faithful — children
or adults, men or women — to offer sacrifices and prayers
for the conversion of sinners. And hence to draw upon the infinite
merits of Our Lord, Who died on the Cross. He left us these merits
for us to “trade”, so to speak, with God the Father
for the conversion of sinners, and for us to understand what the
treasure is that He has given us in the Message of Fatima.
I would now like to give you some political context. I recently read
an article in the Wall Street Journal which said that
in one year, the so‑called Third World countries spend approximately
$798 billion buying armaments from the Unites States.
That is in just one year.
I’ve heard that China alone spends $800 billion every year just
on military hardware. They possess some of the most sophisticated
armaments. In fact, after the Russians, the Chinese have the best
torpedo in the world.
In contrast, the U.S. military is basically dependant upon the aircraft
carrier. The aircraft carrier is able to extend the U.S. Air Force
all around the world.
The Achilles heel of the aircraft carrier is, of course, the torpedo.
The Russians have a torpedo, the Topal, that is able to go faster
than the speed of sound underwater. The Chinese have one that only
goes 200 knots underwater. There is no defense against the Russian
torpedo.
The submarine that went down on August 12, 2000 with 118 men on board,
the Kursk, contained the Topal torpedo. The British and
the Norwegians both had the mechanical means which would have enabled
them to save that sub, but the Russians would not allow it because
they did not want them to find the torpedo, as that is their key
to world domination.
On that ship also were some Chinese. The Russians did not want to let
the world know yet that the Chinese were in close alliance with
them. They were still spreading the falsehood that there had been
a break between China and Russia since 1967. Finally in 2002, they
acknowledged it before the world.
What we are faced with is the mass destruction of (some say) as much
as two‑thirds of the world’s people. That would be
about four billion; that is a lot of people being killed. Our Lady
speaks about it as the “annihilation of various nations”.
We, meaning humanity collectively, have the means to destroy the
whole world, and certainly to destroy two‑thirds of it.
There is a New World Order monument put up by a branch of Masonry in
Elberton, Georgia that calls for the killing of everybody but 500
million people, which means that they want to kill 87% of mankind.
All of this is called for in the name of the ecological protection
of mankind, because they think there are too many people. (See “Extermination
of 9/10ths of World Population”, at www.fatimacrusader.com/cr55/cr55pg02.asp).
What they are really saying is “we cannot control you all,
we want to rule the world, so all these people have to go”.
There’s a picture of this monument in our book Fatima Priest. It
is a granite monument weighing some 240 tons, with their “Ten
Commandments” of New Age goals etched in eight languages.
The first of these “Ten Commandments” is to “maintain
humanity at 500 million people”. It is a euphemistic way
of saying; let us kill 5.5 billion people.
That is the kind of thinking that we are up against. It is hard to understand
how bad people can be when they are led by Satan. Our Lord said
that Satan is a murderer and a liar from the beginning.
Our Lady vs. Satan
Pitted against Satan is the Blessed Virgin. It has been left to Her
to defeat Satan. In Genesis we read: “I will put enmities
between thee and the Woman, and thy seed and Her seed; She shall
crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for Her heel.” (Genesis
3:15)
The Latin Vulgate of St. Jerome points out that it is She who will crush
the serpent’s head. Ultimately, of course, it is Her Son,
because anything that the Blessed Virgin does is through the grace
and the power of Her Son. Nevertheless, it has been reserved to
Her, personally, by Her Son, to crush the serpent’s head.
That prophecy of 6,000 years ago will be realized in our time through
the Consecration of Russia. It will come about no other way.
It says in Psalm 32, verse 11 that the plan of God’s heart is
for all generations. God has not changed His plan. The Sacred Heart
has decreed that it will be the Immaculate Heart who will have
this victory.
Here in Spain, civil war broke out in July 1936. (Everyone knows that
the Spanish Civil War was funded and armed by Russia.) In May of
that year, Sister Lucy, living in this city, Tuy, realized that
the revolution was about to take place. And Lucy, after seven years
(1929 through 1936) of trying to bring about the Consecration,
was asked by her confessor, a very intelligent Jesuit, “Should
I insist, still, on the Consecration of Russia?” And
Lucy answered the question rather unusually. Considering what she
said the year before, she seems to almost contradict herself. She
said “I don’t know.” The year before she had
most certainly insisted upon it.
“I don’t know,” she said, “but recently I was
talking with Our Lord and asked Him why He would not convert Russia
without that Consecration.” And Our Lord answered her. He
said, “Because I want My whole Church to recognize that Consecration
as a triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary so that later on My
Church will place devotion to the Immaculate Heart beside the devotion
of My Sacred Heart.” He wants both His Heart and His Mother’s
Immaculate Heart to be venerated together.
We have the example of St. John Eudes, whose feast day is traditionally
on the 19th of August. He was the first saint to promote devotion
to both the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts together. This is what
Our Lord God Himself wants and He will realize this through the
Consecration of Russia.
There are some predictions in Sacred Scripture which both Pope Paul
VI and Pope John Paul II spoke of when they came to Fatima. It
is the Apocalypse, Chapter 12, verses 1‑4. Paul VI, when
he came to Fatima in 1967, cited the verse “A great sign
appeared in Heaven: a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under
her feet and on her head a crown of twelve stars.” (Apoc.
12:1) He tells us that is the Blessed Virgin.
Pope John Paul II returned to the same theme when he visited Fatima
in 2000. I believe that verse, in fact the first four verses, are
cited in the Secret that has not yet been released to you.
In all of recorded history, about 6,000 years, there have been more
than 14,000 wars. That comes out to about 2.5 wars per year. Obviously
mankind has not been able to achieve peace. And yet this very notion
of peace, more than just the absence of war, is what Our Lady promises. “If
My requests are granted many souls will be saved and there will
be peace.” And She says, “In the end, My Immaculate
Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to Me,
Russia will be converted and a period of peace will be given to
mankind.”
We have not yet had an era of peace given to mankind. It is reported
that when Christ was born all of mankind was at peace. But it did
not last for very long. Our Lady is promising a period of peace
for all mankind.
The Old Testament prophets talked about this but we have not yet seen
this. We are told that the lion will lie down with the lamb, the
child will be with the adder, and the lamb and the child will be
unhurt.
We are told in Sacred Scripture that they will turn their swords into
ploughshares. The $798 billion spent just by Third World countries
in the United States alone will not be spent on armaments but rather
on medicine, education or food or other useful things. They will
turn their swords into ploughshares.
One of the prophets says that they will learn the art of war no more.
The art of war has always been taught from generation to generation.
This period of peace will last for more than a generation, because
they will no longer learn the art of war. This is an era of peace
that mankind has not yet seen. It is the era of peace that will
come about through the Immaculate Heart of Mary and only through
the Immaculate Heart of Mary — and only through the Consecration
of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The Consecration of Russia has to be made both publicly and solemnly. It
is not enough if we do not give the credit where it is rightly
due. It has to be seen to be a Consecration, as a public
act. And obviously it requires all the solemnity that the Queen
of Heaven deserves. So it must be a solemn, public act by the Pope
and the bishops together with him.
Will the Bishops Obey?
The Vatican Secretaries of State, both Cardinal Casaroli and Cardinal
Sodano, have told the Popes — certainly Pope John XXIII and
Pope John Paul II — that the bishops will not obey if they
are told to do the Consecration. Well, in this matter I am better
informed than both of those Cardinals.
Now there is a new Secretary of State, Cardinal Bertone. I am not yet
aware of whether he is saying that the bishops will not obey. I
have heard him say in the past that the Consecration has been done.
This could simply be because he is not aware of the material on
the subject to prove otherwise. But in any case, to say that the
bishops will not obey is false.
I write to the bishops regularly. I try to do it once a month. I have
written to the bishops well over one hundred times now. The bishops,
like the rest of us, are mortals, and so about one hundred and
ten bishops die every year and are replaced with other bishops.
But I have been writing to all the bishops for many years now.
And we’ve had over half of them write back to us.
At one point I had 1,549 bishops who wrote to me to tell me that they
would do the Consecration. The bishops who were opposed to doing
the Consecration — those who had the courage to tell me they
were against it — can be counted on one hand.
And that is not because I have been hiding or couldn’t be found.
I have been writing to the bishops every month. My address is there
and anyone in any part of the world can find me.
I have not changed what I’ve had to say since 1983, when the controversy
about the Consecration first erupted between Hamish Fraser and
John Haffert of the Blue Army. I have published both of their positions
and researched it myself and realized that Fraser was right.
Hamish Fraser was the man who had the dove land on his head at a conference
in Paris. When they released the doves, they would go to Our Lady’s
statue, but one came and rested on his head. Fraser had been a
Communist fighting in Spain on the side of the Communists. He was
converted by taking up a challenge to prove the Catholic Church
and Christianity wrong. In fact, he was proven to be wrong and
he embraced the Faith.
The bishops of Portugal consecrated their country to the Immaculate
Heart of Mary in 1931 and again in 1938. The Cardinal Patriarch
of Lisbon acknowledged in the 1940s that Our Lady had given several
miracles to Portugal for these acts of Consecration.
In 1931, the year after the Message of Our Lady of Fatima was approved,
they consecrated their country to the Immaculate Heart. As a result
of that consecration — and this is publicly acknowledged
by the bishops of Portugal — they were delivered from the
Spanish Civil War, which took place between the years 1936 and
1939. Approximately 15% of the population of Spain died violently
in that war.
World leaders across the globe all believed that Portugal would be drawn
into the Spanish Civil War, with the forces of the Communists versus
the Catholic Church, which was symbolized by the “execution” of
the Sacred Heart statue in a public square in Spain. The Communists
took control of the town, lined up their men with their rifles
and executed the statue, and then blew it up. That one act symbolized
that the war was really against the Catholic Church and the Catholic
Faith.
Everybody on both sides was aware of this and knew what the real issues
were. All involved thought that the same war would come to Portugal,
but the country was delivered through the consecration of their
country by the bishops.
We also have the example of the Bishop of Seville, who consecrated his
diocese to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. He did not need the other
bishops to join him; he consecrated Seville on his own. And unlike
the rest of Spain, there was not one violent death, not one casualty
of the civil war in Seville.
In 1938, the bishops of Portugal again consecrated their country to
the Immaculate Heart of Mary. As a result of that, as Sister Lucy
herself told them, they were delivered from the horrors of the
Second World War. Not one Portuguese soldier went to war and not
one Portuguese was a victim of the war, as a result of the Consecration
of Portugal in 1938.
So we have before us two choices: we can ignore Our Lady, or we can
think that we are smarter and we can negotiate with our enemies.
Both of those choices are wrong. There is a third choice. We can
obey Our Lady and do what She asks.
The Vatican-Moscow Agreement
Up to now, the Secretaries of State have prevailed upon the Church to
make treaties. There is an agreement which is called the Vatican‑Moscow
Agreement. It is not recorded on paper, as far as I know, but it
is a fact, and there have been historical accounts of it published.
The World Council of Churches met in Delhi, India, in November, 1961.
In attendance was the Russian Patriarch, Nikodim, second in command
in the Orthodox hierarchy. Nikodim was about thirty years of age
at the time. A few years before, they had removed somebody else
who had been proven to be a KGB officer, in favor of young Nikodim
who was considered a rising star.
It was Nikodim who spelled out the terms on which Russia would attend
the Second Vatican Council. He negotiated with Cardinal
Tisserant and Archbishop Willebrands, who became Cardinal Willebrands.
The negotiations began in Metz, a city near the French border with
Germany, and concluded by Archbishop Willebrands going to Moscow.
The terms of the agreement were that the Catholic Church would
not denounce the errors of Communism.
The officials of the Vatican Secretariat of State and most everyone
else — there have been some exceptions — have maintained
that agreement from 1962 to the present. In other words, they have
negotiated, and in their negotiations they have lost, although
many of them still don’t recognize it.
You have to understand that when the Communists came to power in Poland
in 1949, they were at first only part of a coalition government.
And they only asked for two conditions: one was that they be given
control of the ministry in charge of the police as well as the
ministry in charge of the military; the second was that Communism
not be denounced in the Polish parliament. As the result of getting
these two conditions they were able to take over Poland.
The silence of the leadership against the errors of Russia, of Communism,
and of other errors besides, is sufficient for the Communists — their
propagators, their infiltrators, their proponents — to be
able to overcome all the rest of the opposition.
That is symbolized by the story of the Jesuit priest, James Francis
Carney S.J., in the preface chapter (page 18) of Malachi Martin’s
book The Jesuits. Carney was a priest from Chicago, a
young man, and well educated. But he apparently had never heard
of the evils of Communism. Because of the Vatican‑Moscow
Agreement, whereby the Vatican agreed to not denounce the errors
of Communism, this priest would not hear Communism denounced by
his Vatican superiors from 1963 onwards.
He was apparently quite a good military leader. He took up arms in 1971,
inspired by Liberation Theology, and fought on the side of the
Marxists in Honduras; and, for the next 12 years, he lived the
life of a guerrilla commando, all the while believing he was in
the service of the Gospel. He finally met his match in September
1983, when Honduran troops, led by a general who was his long-time
opponent, were able to kill or capture him and his entire commando
unit of ninety men. Carney thought that he was in service of the
Gospel. To me, the wasted last 12 years of the life of Fr. Carney — that
useless, wasted tragic death at the service of Marxism, of the
Communist Revolution — shows the complete stupidity of the
Vatican-Moscow Agreement.
Here we see that the Vatican negotiators have been completely bamboozled
by the Communist KGB agents posing as clergy of the Moscow-controlled “Russian
Orthodox Church”, who tricked the Vatican into this useless,
dangerous agreement.
You see what happened is this. The Vatican keeps silence, as per the
Vatican-Moscow Agreement. It hides the truth about the errors of
Marxism, of Communism. Meanwhile, the Communist propagandists and
infiltrators — in seminaries, in professorships, in journals,
books, etc — spread their net of lies. Father Carney gets
intellectually entangled by these Marxists. His natural leaders,
his religious superiors in the Vatican, do not help him get untangled — instead
they may try to silence any anti-Communists within the Church,
and they maintain their own silence. Carney does not even read
about these Marxist-Communist errors in Catholic journals or hear
about them in Catholic sermons and apparently he does not even
know he has fallen into a trap. The result some 20 years later:
he gets killed violently at the service of the devil — thinking
he is serving Jesus Christ.
What a tragedy, what a loss, what a devastation — and it is still
going on with the deception of millions of Catholic clergy and
laity. Those so deceived are falling into the pit — because
they are blind and led by the blind. Both fall into the pit. Father
Carney’s fall is more dramatic than some; however, many more
are still falling to this day!
When, in 1922, Pius XI became Pope, one of his first pronouncements
was about the evils of Communism. Before he died in 1937, he published
his encyclical Divini Redemptoris. In it, he said, “I
have spoken about the evils of Communism fifteen years ago. But
I would be derelict in my duty, to not speak again on this subject.” Among
other things he said, “Communism is intrinsically evil and
anyone who would save Christian civilization cannot collaborate
with it in any form whatsoever.” These were the words spoken
by Pope Pius XI, but understand there was a fifteen‑year
period, from 1922 to 1937, in which he was silent, and yet he says
that “I, the Pope, would be derelict in my duty as Pope to
not speak out again.”
Now we have come from 1962 to the present, which is forty‑four years,
in which time Communism has not been denounced because of the Vatican‑Moscow
Agreement, which, basically, is immoral to keep. I cannot take
a vow to steal someone’s money, nor can I take a vow to keep
silent when it is my duty to speak.
The word “bishop” means watchman. Ezechiel is told by God
the duties of a watchman. To put the story in modern English, God
said to Ezechiel, “I have appointed you watchman and if you
see the enemy coming over the hills at night and you do not sound
the alarm, then I will hold you, watchman, guilty for the deaths
of all your fellow citizens. If you speak up and they do not do
anything, then it is on themselves. But if you do not cry out and
sound the alarm, then I (God) shall hold you responsible for their
deaths.” (Ezechiel 33.)
So it is wrong, as I have said quite publicly a number of times, for
us to maintain the Vatican‑Moscow Agreement.
As a friend of mine, a Jesuit priest named Father Vincent Micelli, said, “Besides
that, it is proven that they have not kept their end of the bargain
anyway.” That is, the Communists have not — from the
very beginning — kept their agreement to stop persecuting
the Catholic Church and Catholic faithful.
The Persecution of the Catholic Church:
A Communist Doctrine
Instead of having the persecution of the Church directed by their central
headquarters, they have put the word out to their local provincial
governors to do that, to persecute the Church, locally, so those
at the top can say they knew nothing about it.
The persecution of the Church is more subtle these days than in times
past, but it is still in keeping with what Our Lady said would
happen, if we didn’t listen — the persecution of the
Church and the persecution of the Holy Father. It takes a little
more effort to see that persecution now, because the persecutors
know that by persecuting openly they will get people to line up
on the side of their enemies. Therefore, they do it quietly and
they do it through surrogates, so it is not so easily seen.
If you look at the history of mankind, and the history of the Church,
what has happened since 1960? We have seen that in the history
of the Church there were about 455,000 Catholic priests in 1965.
Today, taking the Church’s official statistics, we have about
405,000. Fifty thousand priests have left the ministry over that
time and have never been recovered or replaced.
In the United States and Canada, and perhaps elsewhere, Catholic churches
are being sold off. And even though the population is getting bigger,
the number of people going to church is getting smaller and smaller.
I understand that in Europe less than 10% of the faithful go to
Mass every Sunday. Before 1960, 75% of Catholics attended Sunday
Mass regularly. Now the figure — again, by official statistics — is
only about 25%. In 1960, the number of women religious was well
over one million. Now, I believe, it is somewhat less than half
of that. We are in a war, the proportions of which have never been
seen before. We are seeing the accumulation of all of the Church’s
enemies gathering together to kill the Church, if that were possible.
Some people think that we need not worry because Our Lord said that
the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church. I don’t
wish to minimize that statement or say that it is not true. Of
course it’s true. However, there are some assumptions in
it that we have to be very careful about.
St. Augustine, during his lifetime, had a very flourishing Christian
civilization and Catholic Church in North Africa. Shortly after
his death, the Church was wiped out by military might and has yet
to recover, some sixteen centuries later.
So, even though Our Lord has promised that the gates of hell will not
prevail against the Church, there is no promise to my country or
yours that the Church will remain as we recognize it now.
It must be taken into account that the Church consists of Catholics.
But what makes a person a Catholic? He believes the Gospel, he
believes in the Catholic Faith, he is baptized and he recognizes
the authority of the Church, of the Pope. Those are the five marks
of what makes a person a Catholic. But if you destroy their faith,
if you get them to deny the faith, to apostatize, then they are
no longer Catholics.
The promise for those people is no longer applicable because they have
left the Church. So the gates of hell will not prevail against
the Church. But that does not mean that the gates of hell will
not prevail against us as individuals, as members of our community,
as citizens of our country. So Our Lady comes to protect individual
souls, as well as to protect Christendom, Christian civilization.
That is the burden of the second part of the Secret, that Russia will
spread its errors, that it will dominate the whole world. And the
burden of the third part of the Secret is that the Church itself
will go into apostasy by not listening to Our Lady.
That is not just my opinion. You also have the opinion of Cardinal Ciappi,
who was, until his death in 1996, the papal theologian to Popes
Pius XII, John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul I and John Paul II. Cardinal
Ciappi tells us that “In the Third Secret it is foretold,
among other things, that the great apostasy in the Church will
begin at the top.” Those are the words of Cardinal Ciappi.
There is much in the Fatima Message, which I have taken twenty‑nine
years to study and learn. The fact is, the Message is much different
from what you might expect to find in it.
The Message of Fatima, in its simplicity, first of all tells us to pray
the Rosary. We certainly should pray the Rosary every day, and
we should wear the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
We should consecrate ourselves to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
And we should keep the Commandments and do our daily duty. That
is, you might say, the first level of the Message of Fatima.
But when you get to its institutional level or worldwide vision, there
is much more to it, and the Message of Fatima is the only solution
to the problems of the Church and the world today.
President Bush tells us he thinks we will have war for the next twenty
years. With the policies he is following, if mankind can survive
at all, I don’t think it will be for even twenty years. But
the fact remains that no world leader has in place a plan for peace.
Mr. Bush does not even know what objective he would have by the
time his war would be over. To have a war against terrorism is
like having a war against a gun, or a war against a tactic. You
cannot wage war against a tactic; you have to have an identifiable
objective.
The plan of the enemies of God is to transform the Church into something
else than what it was intended for, and to use it as part of their
plan to dominate the world. The Church’s purpose is to save
souls, but its enemies would like to make the Church into something
else. They want to make the Church into a “facilitator of
human cooperation”, a facilitator of a system that seeks
to serve man first before God, to make a world paradise here on
earth without God, all the while deceiving the faithful into thinking
that they are still Catholic.
The Masonic ideal is “We do not care if you are Catholic, if you
are Protestant, if you are Jewish, if you are Hindu, or if you
are Buddhist; it does not matter to us. If your first name is Catholic,
your last name is Freemason. If your first name is Protestant,
your last name is Freemason. If your first name is Jewish, your
last name is Freemason. It does not matter to us as long as you
take as a substratum our doctrine, as long as you are faithful
to our principles before any other principles.”
That is the ideal of the sworn enemy of the Church, the beast of the
Apocalypse. That is the beast that will be killed by Russia when
it is consecrated, if those Masons are not converted.
Importance of
Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
But the conversion of Russia and the defeat of any remaining enemies
of the Church after that conversion will not take place without
Our Lady receiving the credit, since it belongs to Her. God has
reserved to Her the grace of world peace and the conversion of
the world. Our Lady says that “In the end, My Immaculate
Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to Me,
and she [Russia] will be converted, and a period of peace will
be granted to the world.”
Our Lady is not speaking just of the conversion of Russia to the Catholic
Faith. She is speaking of the conversion of the whole world,
which includes the Jews and the Muslims as well, to the Catholic
Faith.
How can we deduce that? It is very simple. In Scripture we find
that God wants the whole world for Himself. The world is made for
man, man is for Christ, and Christ is for God. Christ is the King
of kings and the Lord of lords. He is to reign as King over the
presidents and the kings of the world, and over the parliaments
and over the regional and city councils. He will be recognized
as King because His laws will be reflected in their laws.
We cannot have peace except from the Author of creation, because as
St. Thomas and St. Augustine tell us, peace is the tranquility
of order. The tranquility of order is what God intended us to have,
but we cannot have the order God intends without the Kingship of
Christ being recognized publicly.
We cannot live the Commandments of God without the grace of God. We
do not get the grace of God without coming through Our Lord Jesus
Christ. And we do not get that grace without the Catholic Church
and the sacraments.
Consequently, when Our Lady promises a period of peace, She means that
the whole world will live according to the laws of God — the
natural law that God has put into the heart of man. So there will
not be any abortion, euthanasia, killing and so forth, because
these are contrary to the law of God.
We are living in the worst time in history, with 50 million babies being
killed every year in the war against the unborn. That does not
take into account all the other wars taking place today, and there
are plenty of those. As long as we are killing 50 million babies
a year, we cannot say that we are in a state of peace.
When the Blessed Virgin triumphs, all of this will be stopped and an
era of peace will begin. But this can only come about through devotion
to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This is the very simple truth
that we must make everyone understand and appreciate, so that they
can then adhere to the full, complete and entire Message of Our
Lady of Fatima.
